Emily Haddad's films have shown in many film festivals, including the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, the Walker “Women with Vision” film festival, the LA Femme Film Festival, the MS Film Festival, the Fargo Film Festival and the MN TV shorts film program on TPT. Her feature-length historical documentary, “Class of ´41” won “Best of Fest” at the 2008 Illinois International Film Festival.
In July, 2009 Haddad received a Jerome Foundation production grant to assist with production of a documentary to be entitled “Artist in the Margin.”
This is Haddad´s artistic statement:
“I am a writer, but I am also a visual artist. In producing films, I try to tell stories primarily through the visuals, deepening them with sound and music, but employing language only as a last resort. That is why I edit my own films, particularly my documentaries. I experiment during the editing process, looking for the most effective visual way to tell the story; and I find that in this way the story becomes more powerful and beautiful.”
